Much more than a traditional e-boutique, Founders & Followers aims to “celebrate the artisanal process” by telling the stories and inspirations of designers and artists.
With clothing and accessories from some of our favorite independent designers such as Bodkin and Standard Finery, Founders & Followers also offers limited-edition prints from young fashion illustrators and a behind the scenes look at their studios and creative spaces. In the artist notes for illustrator Esra Roise, whose piece Sunken Treasure ($150) is seen above, F&F notes that while working on this project she “listened to Bat For Lashes, Camera Obscura and old seventies softrock, like James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac and Todd Rungren.” You may recognize some of the featured artists’ work from magazines like Jalouse, Nylon and Black Book, but the editions sold on Founders & Followers come in limited editions of 10 or 20, making them extra special pieces to call your own.

If that weren’t enough, the fashion selections on F&F don’t disappoint – we love Stine Goya’s dresses for transitioning into Spring, and Forget Me Not’s nature-printed scarves for perking up basics pieces like the offerings from Bruce II. While the temperature might be warming up a bit, the sight of Shipley and Halmos’ Thomas overcoat makes us wish for gray skies to wear it under, especially when paired with Devastee’s lace-up oxfords with embroidered skulls.
