December 16, 2009

With an amazing handbag collection, a fantastic personality, and an upcoming sample sale, accessory designer Khirma Eliazov is the girl you want to know now.
Khirma Eliazov: To Have and to Hold

We introduced you to Khirma Eliazov's designs a few months ago and they have been dancing in our heads ever since. Ridiculously well-made and simply gorgeous, Khirma Eliazov bags are ones you'll want to have and hold for years to come.Sienna Miller Gray Handbag Khirma Eliazov

Created with signature shagreen detail and a brilliant purple lining, the namesake collection (seen on Sienna Miller, left) embodies the effortlessly chic nature of its designer. Khirma (pronounced Erma) began her creative career as an accessories assistant at Mademoiselle Magazine and quickly grew into a full-fledged fashion stylist working with clients such as Nikon and the Bravo Network. She also worked as a freelance accessories and market editor for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Teen Vogue, granting her further exposure to the best accessories available.

Ready to take on new challenges and armed with a library of knowledge and insider access, Khirma worked as a brand and marketing consultant before introducing her first collection of luxury handbags for Fall 2009.

"Women now are more style conscious than ever," says the designer. "I did not want to just design arm candy, but rather, sophisticated, luxury handbags identifiable for their high quality construction, distinct aesthetic and versatility that lends itself to complement a favorite pair of jeans, a cocktail dress, poolside, or at the Met–feminine, functional and timeless."

But as they say, it takes two to tango. In the spring of 2009, Khirma met her partner Keira Guez, daughter of denim mogul Paul Guez and current Director of Production and Sales for Khirma Eliazov. Bringing her expertise and experience to the table, Keira provides that valuable second half of the company, which unfortunately many other design house fail to have.

Honestly, we haven't seen a collection of handbags that has excited us this much in a very long time. It isn't only the beautiful materials and colors that we've fallen for, but the pockets (which are everywhere), the stunning hardware, and the tightly (and expertly) hand-woven handles that hug the shoulder perfectly.

Since we trust Khirma's excellent taste and judgement when it comes to, well, everything, we asked her to share a few of her favorite things with us, what inspires her and more...
