Transition Easy: New Neutrals

March 23, 2010

Winter is out; Spring is in. But how to transition gracefully from the bitter cold to the warming weather? Start lightening your look up by layering the season's most beautiful neutral pieces.
Transition Easy: New Neutrals

Take inspiration from the Spring 2010 runway collections of Burberry, Chloé, Stella Mc Cartney and Celine (all shown above) and lighten up your look. Invest in pieces now that can be easily styled into your existing wardrobe in a power-room perfect palette of soft neutrals ranging from buttery camel to the palest shades of griege (gray/beige). See below for a few tips on how to transition your look now:

1. Although we're still experiencing gray days, it's high time to store those winter coats. Reach for lighter weight khaki trench, anorak and pea coat options instead. You'll be warm and more season appropriate.

2. Another way to transition your look from winter to spring is with a simple switch of footwear. Warmer days mean giving your boots the boot and opting for pumps, flats, or other more breathable footwear styles. Cold toes? Try wearing your sandals with socks a la Burberry.

3. Save your chunky knit scarves for next November and slip a silk or thin cotton one around your neck. We love all of the lightweight options by Bindya and Leigh & Luca, as well as several from SabrinaLes. Try a stark white, printed or tie-dyed one.

4. In Manhattan and have a hard time ditching your black on black ensemble? Try pairing all that darkness with at least one lighter piece to start.
