Fashion bloggers Rumi Neely and Jane Aldridge are sporting big, messy buns - and they look almost good enough to eat.

Top Knot - The Messy Bun

Relaxed and somehow a bit refined, these updos are essentially just chic versions of what we usually sport on our bad hair days. Jane wore her bun during a recent trip to Austin, seen on Sea of Shoes here, while Rumi, who usually lets her locks flow free on Fashion Toast, showcased the messy up-do in her post on tshirt and jeans.

Want the receipe for their deliciously messy buns?

Let's start with the key ingredients:
1. Simple ponytail holder - we recommend Goody Ouchless Thick Elastics
2. Goody Ouchless Bobby Pins
3. Long hair, at least down to your shoulder blades works best
4. Hair spray - Sebastian Re-Shaper is the best there is for this sort of do

How-To:
1. Begin with dry and slightly dirty hair
2. Run a brush through hair to smooth out any major tangles and then run your fingers through it for that messy, yet chic texture as you pull it up into a ponytail
3. Secure the ponytail high on the back of your head with the ouchless elastic, but be careful not to completely pull the entire ponytail through the elastic
4. Take that loop of hair and twist it a bit to form a bun around the base of the ponytail and fluff it up a bit with your fingers
5. Use your bobby pins to secure the pieces into the elastic base as desired
6. Spray the entire bun with hair spray to keep it looking as perfectly messy as possible from morning to night

And there you have it. We also really love the look of big messy buns at the nape of your neck and suggest that you give it a try as well to see how you like your do best.

What do you think of the look? Too messy or just right?
