Think Pink: Shop to Stop Breast Cancer

FACT: One in every eight women in the United States will have breast cancer. If it doesn't happen to you, chances are that it IS going to happen to someone you know and care about.

The term "breast cancer” refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. In 2008, an estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 67,770 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. More than one in four diagnosed cancers are breast cancer. For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer besides lung cancer.

GOOD NEWS: Recently, reported cases of breast cancer (and related death rates) in the U.S. decreased by 3.5% per year. The decrease is thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening - and also increased awareness. As of 2008, there are about 2.5 million women in the U.S. who have survived breast cancer.

There are many ways you can help in the fight against breast cancer, and one of the easiest ways is to shop. Seriously. Thinking of picking up a new bag, candle, calander, or even a new pair of tweezers? Consider the chic options now available that give a little something back in support of breast cancer research.

For the rest of the month, we'll be highlighting products that will make your life StyledOn and also do their part to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Afterall, doesn't it feel good to make the breast decision possible?
