Farfetch.com has just added eight new US boutiques to their roster of chic European ones. Just another reason to keep on shopping...
One of our favorite one-stop boutiques, farfetch.com, is now Stateside, sort of. Today, eight new boutiques from the US & Canada including Reborn, Anastasia, American Rag, Traffic, Assembly, BBlessing, Fred Segal and Eva, have been added to the site.
Previously, Farfetch.com united only Europe’s best independent fashion boutiques making shopping from interesting and lesser-known designer fashion brands possible and easy. Being able to shop from multiple boutiques based in Paris, London, Florence, Copenhagen - and now the US and Canada - in just a few seconds and all from home is a shopper's dream come true.
Excited by the recent news, we caught up with the company that's bringing it all together:
StyledOn: What prompted the move beyond Europe?
farfetch.com: The farfetch.com concept has been such a success in Europe that we just saw enormous potential in the United States. In fact a good proportion of our customers are American anyway, who seem to love the European brand focus of the site and the idea of shopping in cool European boutiques, without leaving home. The problem has always been that those US customers have had to pay higher shipping costs than their European equivalents. So when our CEO José Neves got chatting to a friend of his at Revolve clothing in the States, the idea of farfetch.com US was born.
SO: Any one store in particular that really prompted the expansion?
farfetch.com: Not really one in particular. There are just so many great stores in various cities across America that the thought of bringing them all together in one place was just so exciting. And we got a good response from the off. I mean, when you think of all those great denim brands at American Rag and the cool labels at Eva in New York, you start to realise what a great addition the US stores make to farfetch.com. And there will be more US and Canadian boutiques joining all the time, so the product offer will just get richer.
SO: Any plans to go beyond Europe and North America? South America? Australia? Asia?
farfetch.com: We're already working on a South American version of farfetch.com with a partner in Brazil. To begin with, it will be a Portuguese language version of the European/US site, but eventually we'll be bringing in local stores to make it truly South American in flavor. As far as the rest of the world goes, well it's our oyster and there is definitely so much potential there. So I guess it's a case of 'watch this space'.
We love that you're now able to shop by EU boutiques, US boutiques or both. Plus, US-based shoppers will also benefit from US-focused style features, cheaper shipping and no import charges when shopping from US boutiques, making spending all that hard-earned cash even easier.
Be sure to check back in with Farfetch as the company promises more to come.
