Working with contrasting elements, Shipley & Halmos present a collection of beautiful wardrobe essentials and lust-worthy outerwear.

Shipley & Halmos Fall/Winter 2010

Aptly titled "Actions vs. Containment," Jeff Halmos and Sam Shipley's collection for Fall/Winter 2010 showcases the possibilities of juxtaposition. Soft draping appears next to sharp tailoring in a well-executed blend of feminine cuts and elements from menswear.shipley and halmos a/w 2010

Citing inspirations that include futurism (which can be seen in their "fireworks" print that recalls the shapes and pallette of Boccioni's painting, The City Rises), Pink Floyd, and the work of Robert Longo, Shipley & Halmos have created a collection of pieces that successfully constitute an entire wardrobe. There are both casual and formal pieces in a variety of textures, including pillowy-soft knits, fur and silk jersey–but the homerun of the collection is the range of outerwear. From a gorgeous silk trench (top) to a leather and wool varsity jacket, Shipley & Halmos truly nailed it.shipley and halmos a/w 2010

The detailing is also impressive seen in grosgrain belts and softly rolled pant cuffs, and with the detachable collars on double breasted coats. While the pieces exude a definite sense of modern "cool," they are executed with a refined hand (or two) that steers clear of gone-tomorrow trends in favor of effortless elegance.shipley and halmos a/w 2010

Shipley & Halmos aspire to create collections that don't stand alone, but rather blend seamlessly into a woman's existing wardrobe and their Autumn/Winter 2010 presentation achieves this goal with great success.shipley and halmos a/w 2010

So beautiful and laid back chic. I literally want the entire collection, especially that fur lined coat in the second series of pics. I will definitely be working some of that mustardy color into my Spring wardrobe.
