In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the house of Pierre Cardin this year, Assouline is releasing another beautiful book to add to your StyledOn coffeetable.
The trends that Pierre Cardin pioneered with his futuristic fashion are plentiful: the cone-boob that Madonna made huge in the 80s, bug-eyed shades that came back in the 90s, and cutout detailing that is all the rage today. Pierre Cardin: 60 Years of Innovation (Assouline) by the house's director of communication, Jean-Pascal Hesse, offers a glimpse at the history of the legendary brand.
Born in Italy but raised in Paris, Cardin worked briefly with (also legendary) Elsa Schiapparelli before joinging Dior in 1946. Just four years later he opened his own couture house, and the rest is history. The architectural structure of his dresses, the oversized buttons on his coats, and the years of gorgeous circle-top hats are recognizable and iconic.
Pick up a copy of this beautiful book and get inspired to inspire those around you.

I love Pierre Cardin and have a clutch of his as well as a chic black dress–both found at the Brooklyn Flea! Can't wait to get a copy of this book.
