When the first issue of LOVE came out, we rejoiced and scoured the glossy from cover to cover. Katie Grand's first cover girl was Beth Ditto, who was among one of the "Icons of Our Generation" as selected by the tome. Ditto, who appeared completely naked on the cover (which caused quite a controversy), was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot - as each cover model has been since.
The second issue featured covers with relative un-knowns once again, although this time clothing was worn (and thank god because Tavi was about 13 at the time). The third issue appeared as a more mainstream fashion rag with eight separate covers featuring "Fashion Icons" including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell wearing nothing but stilettos. Naked, naked, naked - we bet the publishers liked this one better than the first two.
With the fourth issue, Grand has once again gone more mainstream with "The Gorgeous Issue." Victoria's Secret models, rebel beauty Agyness Deyn, Lauren Hutton, and even a doll appear front and center embodying different ideas of gorgeous. My favorites are the covers featuring Beth Ditto, Naomi Cambell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alessandra Ambrosio. And yes, I've bought multiple copies of the same issue for the different covers.
