Kick Flip: Sneakers Get the Couture Treatment

Confessions of a Sneaker-holic.
Kick Flip: Sneakers Get the Couture Treatment

There are few things I admire more than a woman who wears heels to work everyday, but try as I might I can't bring myself to do it. Don't get me wrong, I have a shamefully large collection of shoes of all sorts, stilettos, platforms, wedges and the like, but there is another part of my StyledOn life that has to take a back seat most of the time and has become what I like to think of as a secret identity. I'm Emily, and I'm a Sneaker Freak.

My collection of sneakers rivals my collection of "real" shoes, and it is a thing of beauty if I may say so. I'm partial to hi-tops but I've got an equal number of low-tops, I have them in practical browns and neon pinks and patterns and from all different brands. My most coveted pair were spotted by StyledOn user PatrickK (as seen in his profile photo), the Diet Butcher Slim Skin hi-tops in red patent, but I couldn't bring myself to shell out over $650 I could be putting towards a new pair of red patent Louboutins.

That being said, many of our favorite designers have made forays into the sneaker world, either through their own collections or through collaborations with other major sneaker labels. These beauties have served to alleviate my guilt about going tom-boy in hi-tops, how could you feel less than amazing in a pair of blue velvet Lanvins or pink Dior tennies with velcro straps? Alejandro Ingelmo's incredible collection of shiny-soled beauties (pictured above) is insane, and the Comme des Garcons polka dot numbers could be dressed up or down. With so many chic options out there, I'm finally ready to wear my kicks with pride again.
