I Can't Get No Satisfaction, Only Awesome Fashion

By Hayley Elisabeth Kaufman

While we’re all familiar with the kick-ass all-girl rock group The Runaways who once tore up stages with their brand of brash and sexy rock—and are now heating up theaters thanks to the new saucy biopic staring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. But there is a cool all-star girl group that you might not be as clued-in to.

In the 1988 flick Satisfaction four young ladies—and one dude—form a summer band called The Mystery, and decide to hit the road to play out-of-the-way gigs. They aren’t the most accomplished musicians, but they definitely have some covetable late ’80s style. This cult-fave, starting Justine Bateman, Julia Roberts in her debut role, and a young Britta Phillips from indie group Dean & Britta, definitely inspired many young girls to rock n’ roll.

Donning denim hot pants, crinoline skirts, and belt-length minis, the gals from The Mystery are not only still fashion relevant but they could also be sassy inspiration for your spring wardrobe. While you might not be picking up a guitar anytime soon, don’t be afraid to test out this tough-and-tender rock chic look. Who knows, maybe you’ll be asked for your autograph this spring.

Feeling satisfied?
