Mulberry introduces an app as good as the Alexa and Botkier is jumping on the Polyvore bandwagon. Time to go further beyond the bags...

Going Further Beyond the Bags

Two StyledOn favorites, Mulberry and Botkier have both been operating beyond the bag for quite some time now. With the launch of a near perfect app and fun polyvore contest, respectively, Mulberry and Botkier once again catch our attention.

There are a million ways an app can be created, and while we personally spend the most time on ones like Angry Birds (yes, we're addicted) and Tweetdeck, some fashion-focused ones are pretty awesome as well. Not created to be everyday apps, the good fashion ones serve a different purpose altogether. Ever tried buying a new handbag while walking the streets, or studying the season’s looks from your seat on the train? Well, Mulberry's new iPad and iPhone apps are for you. With a straightforward and sophisticated approach to shopping-on-the-go, you can explore Mulberry’s seasonal lookbooks, watch videos and find your nearest Mulberry store – the app does all we want we it to do without trying too hard. It also features key seasonal videos including the full fashion week show (which was one of our very favorites), behind-the-scenes, and fashion week party films. The app allows you to share your finds with your friends and family via email and Facebook. For hardcore Mulberry fans who don't want to miss a minute of the action, the app also provides access to all the latest news and exclusive content via the Mulberry blog.

To celebrate the launch of the app, Mulberry is giving away ten of its new iPad and iPhone cases. Entry to the competition is accessible only via the app, so visit the iTunes store to download it now, or for further information and some handy hints and tips, head over to mulberry.com for the how-to app video.

In another digital arena and fresh off of their collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff and Bergdorf Goodman, Polyvore has shacked up with Monica Botkier as their Style Expert this week, in conjunction with the launch of Botkier’s highly anticipated collaboration with world-renowned artist John Baldessari and Independent Curators International. Monica has talked with us about her love of photography and art before, so this killer collabo makes nothing but a whole lot of sense to us.

In this unique marriage of avant-garde art and fashion, fans of both worlds will actually get to wear a Baldessari piece on a one-of a-kind Botkier tote (seen in the top image at left) and Polyvore users will have the chance to win one. And today, Tuesday, Nov. 30, Monica will be answering style questions from the Polyvore community. Creators will then be asked by Monica to design tribute sets to their favorite artists today and Wednesday, Dec. 1. Monica will pick the winner on Thursday, Dec. 2, and Polyvore will announce the winner on Friday, Dec. 3. Only 300 of these unique totes are being made and Polyvore is confident one of its brilliant creators will seize the opportunity to win one.

Do you download fashion apps and play on Polyvore?
