Thousands of years old and yet the Mummy's style is somehow still relevant. Get wrapped up in soft wintry white styles, but keep things fierce with cool, edgy accessories that bring Egypt to mind.
Yesterday, we fell for Frankenstein's massive appeal. Today, we're all about he-who-layers-best, the Mummy. But before we dive into the fashion, a bit about the man behind the bandages:
In the classic 1932 horror film the Egyptian priest Imhotep is revived when an archaeological expedition finds his mummified body and one of the archaeologist reads an ancient life-giving spell. Imhotep escapes from the archaeologists, taking the Scroll of Thoth, and prowls Cairo seeking the reincarnation of the soul of his ancient lover, Princess Ankh-es-en-amon. Ten years later, and dressed in disguise, Imhotep convinces a band of new archaeologists to dig into Ankh-es-en-amon's tomb. Just as Imhotep was mummified alive for attempting to resurrect his love–and upon finding a woman bearing a striking resemblance to the Princess–he attempts to mummify a young beauty and make her his bride. In the end, the girl lives and the heart-broken Imhotep crumbles into a heap of bones... but that's no reason his style can't still be inspiring today.

The mummy wasn't interested in obeying the laws of the living (or the dead, for that matter), so why should you be so concerned about wearing a little white after Labor Day? We say pile it on in soft, tumbling layers from head to toe. Whether wrapping up during the day in a chic White and Warren shawl or keeping those bandages tight at night (thanks, Hervé Léger), ditch the all black attire you're used to and lighten things up a bit.

But all white can get a little boring at times, no? Keep with the Egyptian theme and go for some beyond cool scarab jewelry (a la Bottega Veneta Fall 2010), or get the same dash for less cash with House of Harlow's more geometric pieces. Other accessories such as glow-in-the-dark white polish and mesmerizing stockings help to bring the mummy's look into this century.
