"The collection was inspired by a set of rare, one-of-a-kind agate stones that I discovered during my recent trip to Hong Kong," Mimi says. "Agate had not typically appealed to me, most have muddled and overly bright patterns – but a rare few I discovered have beautiful soft coloring, with unusual, almost organic markings. Since the stones are the focal point of my designs, I’ve been on an endless journey to find more of these rarities. In order to find a stone I feel is special enough to use in this collection, I search through thousands; but I believe the end result is well worth it."

"The name of the collection, Surrounded, is an homage to the process of creating each piece. An agate stone is naturally composed of a center ring surrounded by concentric rings of varying shape and color. Each stone’s ring pattern is echoed by a hand-crocheted border and the entire piece is then surrounded in rope," the designer explains.

Because each agate is hand selected for its uniqueness in color and pattern, each piece looks and feels completely different – we're talking one-of-a-kind jewelry here.
