Fashion's Night Out is Happening Again in 2010

That's right. The one night that nearly turned the city upside-down is happening again next year.

Around 800 stores participated in the September 2009 Fashion's Night Out event, created by Vogue's Anna Wintour to boost the struggling retail economy. Mega retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, and other smaller boutiques all brought in celebrities, fashion designers, held book signings and parties, and kept their doors open late (until 11pm) in an effort to jumpstart consumers' urge to shop.

According to the Wall Street Journal, retailers who participated in the first Fashion's Night Out last September found that foot traffic in their stores increased by 50%. Retailers said that didn't directly lead to an increase in actual sales, but they believe it may have encouraged customers to come back the following week. And it boosted employee morale after a long, bad year, according to a Neiman Marcus executive.

This time around, plans are being made to stage Fashion's Night Out events in even more cities including New York, London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Madrid, Moscow, Athens, Taipei, Tokyo, Beijing, Sao Paolo and New Delhi.

And remember those tees? Hold on to those - they'll be considered 'vintage' next year.
