Lorick's pretty party dresses in deep green and blues, Katie Gallagher's space-odyssey in black and silver, and Erin Fetherston in beige and mauve offer up a range of options for next fall.
Lorick
In a palette of rich dark greens, golds, and neutrals, Lorick's Fall/Winter 2010 presentation turned out yet another collection of pretty dresses and separates. Called "Agnes et Cocoons" (Angels and Cocoons), the collection also featured gorgeous heathered jackets and a pair of two-toned skinny trousers. The looks were styled with feathered headpieces made by Leah C. Couture Milinery for Lorick, and the range of fabrics used included chiffon, tweed, and velvet.
The outerwear (the cocoon-inspired part of the collection) stood out, as well as a belted crushed velvet dress in emerald and beige shift with sheer overlay.
Katie Gallagher presented a space-agey collection of high collars, pieced leggings and shiny fabrics mixed with matte at the Soho Grand Hotel this week. The show was packed with people, and we got up-close and personal with the models as we weaved in and out of them, craning to see the entire collection. Her palette for next fall is black, off-white and silver with plenty of sheer cutouts and lots of layering.
An off-white, strappy asymmetrical coat was an obvious standout, and while we loved the overall theme, we'll stick to mix-and-matching Gallagher's pieces rather than going for the head-to-toe otherworldly look.
Erin Fetherston
Inspired by Nico, Erin Fetherston's Fall/Winter 2010 collection recalls days of free love and good times. While she didn't stray too far from her signature babydoll dresses and bow detailing, Fetherston debuted a beautiful bird-printed chiffon in cream, mauve and black as well as trousers and tops.
I loved the simple beige skinny pants paired with a textured matching zip up, and the first look to go down the runway – a tiered cape coat with contrast hems – was a truly special piece for fall that any lady would be luck to call her own.
