Just when you thought you'd never hear her name again, Amy Winehouse is back on the scene with a clothing collection for Fred Perry–seriously.

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry: Wait... what?

No one wanted Amy Winehouse to succeed more than I did, but after months of nothing but mad tabloid rumors, “Blake” tattoos, and barefoot, bloodied weep sessions, even I had to admit that it would take a miracle to pull her out of the mess she made. I’ve always maintained hope that she would one day clean up her act and release another Back to Black, but a record label will only put up with so many drunk/high performances, drug charges and arrests before it throws in the towel.

Imagine my surprise this morning to find Winehouse on the pages of WWD for a collaborative collection with Fred Perry. My first question was, “Fred Perry?” While the company’s marketing director claims that Winehouse has been a fan of the brand for years (which may be true), I would have assumed that her foray into fashion would be with a lingerie or denim line, since her signature look of late (for better or worse) is tiny jean shorts and a bustier.amy winehouse for fred perry

WWD went on to report: “the cheeky-retro look of Winehouse’s line is a style Winehouse herself worked to attention-grabbing effect when she was hitting the red carpet frequently two years ago,” which brings me to my second question: Why didn’t she do this two years ago? I find it hard to believe that people will sport her “signature” look without risking comments like, “Wow, that’s so Amy Winehouse from two years ago.”

The sketches (seen above) are rather unimpressive, but do seem to exude Winehouse's sass and style–of course that could be attributed to the Marge Simpson-esque beehives drawn on the poor croquis.

Would you wear pieces from Amy Winehouse's collection for Fred Perry?
