The Fashion Institute of Technology shows a new exhibit featuring exquisite craftsmanship in both high and low fashions.
Open now at the Museum of FIT is a new exhibit featuring 75 looks from 25 American designers. The pieces were selected to explore the "philosophy of beauty," or the way in which the actually creation of a garment acts as an expression of beauty. Some of the designers whose works are showcased in the exhibit include Rodarte, Halston, Rick Owens, Ralph Rucci and Isabel Toledo to name a few. Here at StyledOn we are totally intrigued by the work behind the gorgeous garments that we worship and lust after, and this exhibit offers a distinctive insider's look into the world that goes into the seams.
The event runs now until April 10th and is sponsored by 1stdibs.com, the incredible couture and vintage auction site. If you are not in the greater New York area, check out the accompanying book of the same title, written by the event's curator Patricia Mears. Still hungry for more American style? The show's media partner, Yoox.com has video of both Patricia Mears and some of the designers to answer your burning questions and get a look behind the scenes.
