Cool off with a look at Emma Lucey's blog, Spin Dizzy Fall. It may be hot Stateside, but in Syndey it's hitting the peak of winter! Discover this blogger's favorite Australian designers, her words to live by and more...

Spin Dizzy Fall

Emma Lucey is the kind of girl we want want to hang out with – and not just for her killer style. Emma's blog, Spin Dizzy Fall, shares little glimpses inside her life in Sydney, from parties to her travels, and of course features her awesome wardrobe. She has some wonderful pictures from Australia Fashion Week, and has turned us on to some amazing emerging designers from down under. Read on to get to now this blogger a little better and you're sure to fall for her too.

StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself – how did you get into blogging?
Emma Lucey: I first started blogging to support my online vintage store and have some 'behind the scenes' posts of my work and what I did with the store. Over the past couple years Spin Dizzy Fall has become much more of a personal style and lifestyle blog which is so much fun to work on!

SO: You seem to be part of a really incredible network of Australian style bloggers. How did you all meet?
EL: A lot of us Australian bloggers met this year at fashion week in Sydney. I had known a couple of the girls and guys that were based in Sydney beforehand and a couple more from back when I had my vintage store, but the majority of us all became friends at RAFW. I think we all really get along because everyone was so open to meeting each other, just hanging out and looking out for each other during fashion week. There was quite a few bloggers and street style photographers there this year so it wasn't hard to find a friendly face!

SO: How would you describe the style scene in Sydney?
EL: I'd say its a mix of structured and laid back style. A contrast of suits vs a more casual approach. A bit of grunge, a bit of colorful brights and a lot of vintage style going around (we've got it all really).

SO: You shot some beautiful shows at Australia Fashion Week this year – whose collection was your favorite?
EL: The shows were all so exciting but I loved Magdalena Velevska (bright colors and pleating) and Limedrop had an exciting and more casual collection. Other highlights were Bianca Spender and Bowie.

SO: What are your style words to live by?
EL: Remember you have your own personal style. Sometimes it's easy to take inspiration from others but it's important to realize what you really like instead of just replicating.

SO: If you could collaborate with anyone on a special project, who and what would it be?
EL: I could probably choose anyone here, but I'd have to say I'd love to collaborate in person with lots of the other international bloggers. I feel a lot of the bloggers are on the same page so to speak and can easily relate so that would eliminate any intimidation of working with someone else, and it would be so much fun to meet different bloggers from around the world.

SP: What is the most treasured item in your closet?
EL: This is always a difficult question because I have so much treasure that I can't let go of! The most special pieces are always vintage finds or pieces I have worn to special events or pieces that were my mums that she's kept and given to me. I hardly wear dresses but I have a lace dress that I wore to my school formal that I will always keep, it's quite special.

SO: What’s at the top of your wishlist right now?
EL: Big knits, metallic pieces and colorful clutches & heels. It's just hitting the peak of winter here in Sydney now so I am looking forward to spring and wearing lots of color and sheer!

SO: We love your blog and read it on a regular basis. Which blogs do you read the most?
EL: I read a lot of Sydney-based and Australian blogs (some of whom are now my friends) such as Shine By Three, Gary Pepper Vintage, Tuula, Zanita, LoveMore, The Monday Issue, Lady Melbourne. My favorite international reads are Happy Because, Natalie Off Duty, afterDRK, ponyhunter, Altamira:models off duty, Bu the Right Thing, Style Scrapbook, Blue is In Fashion This Year, FrouFrouu, Another Day to Dress Up, Late Afternoon and lots more. Quite a list and from bloggers all over the world.

SO: Tell us something about yourself that we might not expect...
EL: I'll be 21 this year. Might sound stupid but lots of people think I am quite young. And by quite young I mean people think I'm 16! But maybe you did already know that so you may not know this: I read a book a week, I can't eat dairy, my parents were hippies, I like painting, knitting but also video games, I'm a student at University, my wardrobe could clothe a small army, I go camping at least three times a year with friends and my dog's name is Penny-Lane after the Beatles song.

Are you loving Emma's style?
