We've got a major girl crush on Sarah Konyer and her appropriately name blog. Her sweet style reflects her easy-going personality, and she's just the kind of friend we would love to go shopping with. We sat down with Sarah to learn more about her favorite trends for summer, her love of cooking, and how GirlCrush got started in this week's edition of Blog Love.
StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself – how did you get into blogging?
Sarah Konyer: I grew up in a very creative family, attended the Ontario College of Art and Design and now work in the creative side of retail. When I discovered the world of blogging, I knew I had to be a part of it, it seemed the perfect way to express my creativity, love for fashion, photography, food and home decor. My boyfriend has been such an amazing support (he takes all of my photographs) and shares my love for cooking! I would not have been able to start GirlCrush without him.
SO: When did you first fall in love with fashion?
SK: I've always loved to dress up, my mom made most of my clothes and costumes (she is so talented) and I think that is what started my love and appreciation for fashion. I used to refuse to wear pants! Only dresses, no matter what.
SO: If you could collaborate with anyone on a project, who and what would it be?
SK: This is such a hard question! Of course there are so many talented artists and designers I'd be honored to collaborate with, however as I mentioned, I have an amazingly talented mom that I'd love to one day collaborate with on some sort of project. Something to do with home decor.
SO: What do you do when you’re not blogging?
SK: I spend a LOT of time cooking and baking. I honestly spend most of my day thinking about food! I especially love cooking for others, I throw a good party. There is something so special about being a host. It is such a delight for me.
SO: What is the most treasured item in your closet?
SK: I would have to say my pearl necklace. My dad had given it to my mom, and she gave it to me for my 25th Birthday. It was a very special gift for many reasons. I have yet to wear it though! Some of my favorite go-to pieces at the moment are my Dolce Vita booties, my Free People denim vest and all of my maxi dresses.
SO: What inspires you?
SK: There are quite a few bloggers that I look up to for different reasons. I am so amazed and inspired by the blogging world and the impact it has had. My friends are also a huge inspiration. They all have fantastic personal style, personality and a great sense of humor.
SO: What are some of your favorite trends for summer?
SK: Floral pants (I love anything floral and feminine though), layered bracelets, tangerine, neon, peplum.
SO: We love your blog and read it on a regular basis. Which blogs do you read the most?
SK: Too many! It's hard to keep up with them all, but to name a few: Sincerely Jules, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Song of Style, Rockstar Diaries, Lark and Linen and Karla's Closet.
SO: Tell us something about yourself that we might not expect.
SK: I'm a perfectionist.
