Robin Chang is a wonderwoman of sorts with an inspiring blog and successful design career. We sat down to talk with her about how she got started, who she's designed for, and more. See why we fell in love with her casual glamour and charm in this week's edition of Blog Love.
StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself-how did you get into blogging?
Robin Chang: I moved here to Los Angeles a few years ago from Virginia to attend FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) and majored in Fashion Design. I always knew at a very young age that I would work in the fashion industry. My mom's sister worked as a seamstress and pattern maker for a local manufacturer in South Korea. My dad loves sketching, painting, and creating things from scratch. I guess fashion just fell into my lap with both sides of my family influencing me. I first got into blogging from an old roommate that had her own personal blog. She would post her inspirations along with her own photos. I loved that! I loved the idea behind a digital diary. An informal way to experiment with fashion was just the escape I needed from my day-to-day 'work life', and being able to share it with people from all over the world is definitely a plus!

SO: When did you first fall in love with fashion?
RC: I first fell in love with fashion when I raided my mom's closet at the age of seven. I tried on her oversized checkered blouse that fit me like an oversized dress. I put on a red lip to go with the look and got into so much trouble for touching her things. I always found a way to sneak back in and play dress up, only to get back in trouble time and time again. I actually still raid my mom's closet whenever I visit, except now I actually fit and take the clothes with me.
SO: How did you get into designing, and who do you like to design for?
RC: After graduating FIDM, I was fortunate enough to meet with the owner of a contemporary women's clothing company and got the job as their head designer. A year after that, I started to freelance for a local private company and designed pieces for ModCloth, Splendid, Forever21 and others. I love designing for women now but I also want to design for men and children in the near future.

SO: If you could collaborate with anyone on a project, who and what would it be?
RC: Off the top of my head, I would say Alexander Wang. I love his practicality and fresh take on fashion!
SO: What is the most treasured item in your closet?
RC: I've been wearing my black thin strap Zara heels almost everyday. Such a basic item that goes with anything, those Zara heels are for sure my most treasured item yet!
SO: Where do you find inspiration?
RC: I find inspiration browsing online, through conversations, taking long drives outside the city, and a bunch of other random places!

SO: We're currently loving your blog! Which blogs do you read the most?
RC: Thank you! I love reading 5 Inches and Up, VanillaScented, The Haute Pursuit, TwinFashion, and Caroline's Mode. There are so many more but it would literally take all day to name!
SO: Where are some of your favorite spots in LA?
RC: Some of my favorite spots in LA would have to be Flore (the best vegan restaurant ever!), the Original Farmer's Market located at The Grove, and of course all the local beaches!
SO: If you could go anywhere-where would you want to go?
RC: I would love to go to outerspace. Space is definitely on the top of my go to/to do lists.
