She may be new to the blogosphere, but Kristen Lam's style had us hooked at 'hello.'
With a knack for accessorizing, an eye for great prints and a love of Alexander Wang, Kristen Lam was a shoe-in for our latest Blog Love. New to the game, her site KristenGlam is picking up speed with style shots taken all over New York City and Instagram shots that give a little glimpse into her world. We caught up with Kristen to get to know her a little better – read on to learn more, and see her site here!
StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself – how did you get into blogging?
Kristen Lam: I started my blog in January this year partly because I started interning at a fashion PR and communications firm and was beyond inspired by everyone around me; my co-workers, interns, bloggers and celebrities that came into the beautiful showroom. I’ve always wanted to start a personal style blog; I guess this was the little push that I needed!
SO: What is your dream career?
KL: I used to want to be a buyer, but honestly, after getting into social media and public relations at this internship, I’m definitely considering going into PR or something of the sort.
SO: What are your style words to live by?
KL: Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashions fade, style is eternal” and I believe that wholeheartedly. All the money in the world can’t buy style; it’s something that’s innate and effortless.
SO: What is the most treasured item in your closet?
KL: Of all time? How can I choose? It definitely changes from time to time. Right now it’s my two pairs of Senso Haydin shoes (alright I cheated and chose two). I have them in black leather and taupe suede and they go with absolutely everything!
SO: If you could only wear one designer or brand for the rest of your life, who/what would it be?
KL: I’m in love with Alexander Wang and his minimalistic collections and clean lines; the Rocco bag in Oasis with rose gold hardware is on my list of things to buy when I win the lottery. Absolutely adore Christopher Kane and his eclectic fusion between reality and fashion. I wouldn’t be able to choose one designer though; I love mixing and matching pieces, especially vintage pieces. I couldn’t survive with just one designer for the rest of my life!
SO: Is there something you think every woman should have in her wardrobe?
KL: That one perfect, black bag. Perfectly sized, good quality, classic silhouette, forever kind of black bag. Even if you hate wearing black, you’ve gotta admit. Black goes with everything.
SO: Are you more of a shoe girl, or more of a handbag girl?
KL: This is a ridiculous question, because I can’t decide. I’m both. They’re interchangeable obsessions of my life.
SO: We love your blog and read it on a regular basis. Which blogs do you read the most?
KL: I’m absolutely in love with Julie Sarinana from SincerelyJules and Aimee Song from Song of Style. They’re such inspirations! And their use of color is so bold! But honestly, I read too many, if I list them all out, it’d just bore you!
SO: Tell us something about yourself that we might not expect.
KL: I hate mangos, and everyone that I’ve told this to thinks I’m crazy. I haven’t met a single person that doesn’t like mangos either, so if you’re out there, you’re not alone… and please tell me I’m not crazy!
