StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself, are you originally from New York? How did you get into blogging?
Chantal: I'm originally from The Netherlands, and came to New York about five years ago for work. I started blogging after I posted daily outfits and looks on Chictopia together with my coworkers, and the blog kind of evolved out of that.
SO: Where is your favorite place to shop in New York?
Chantal: Tokio7, it's a consignment store in the East Village, I just love to go through all the racks hoping to find a steal.
SO: You have great eye for finding wonderful pieces from little known or under-the-radar brands. Do you have any tips for shoppers looking to get out of the mainstream?
Chantal: I always like smaller boutiques and vintage stores, and keep track of sample sales!!
SO: Who are your personal style icons?
Chantal: I always love Kate Moss!
SO: What’s the most treasured item in your closet?
Chantal: A silk top by Antonio Marras that I found at Tokio7.
SO: One thing we love about your site is that unlike many style bloggers, you actually smile in your photos! How do you stay so natural in front of the camera?
Chantal: Haha, I always try to stay myself, not only when it comes to fashion but with everything. Usually when we take photos for the blog I'm actually talking (I don't post those though).
SO: Are you a full-time blogger, or do you have work/projects on the side?
Chantal: I'm actually a fashion designer and have worked for years as a trend forecaster, right now I freelance a bit here and there.
SO: Do you have any advice for bloggers who are just starting up?
Chantal: Be yourself and to have fun doing what you do.
