Victoire Jin, the 17 year old behind Ellevictoire, is more than just a style blogger – she's also the founder and creative director of her very own (and very impressive) magazine, KNEON.

Blog Love: Ellevictoire

For a self-described procrastinator, Victoire Jin sure gets a lot done. Her online magazine KNEON is a refreshing take on fashion, music and art, and features interviews with the likes of Sandra Hagelstam of 5 Inch and Up and photographer Katrin Braga, as well as artist spotlight features and beautiful editorials, many of which Jin photographed or styled herself. The Vienna-based blogger sat down to tell us who is on her radar now, what she hates about fashion, and how she gets it all done.

StyledOn: Your magazine, KNEON, is an impressive accomplishment for anyone, let alone a 17 year old. How did it come about, and where will KNEON go in the future?
Victoire Jin: Thank you! I used to be the layout editor of my school magazine, and after I gave up the position I was itching to do more layout and graphic work, so I decided to make my own. I came up with a couple of possible names, my blog readers helped me choose and then it was just a matter of finding creative people to collaborate with for the various issues. To be honest, I don’t know where KNEON will go. I might keep it online for now, since I don’t have any other people to help me with layout, content editing and business advising – it’s all me and it can get quite hectic. I’ll just take each issue and project as it comes.

SO: You write that you stray away from “high and serious fashion.” Can you share some emerging designers or brands that we should know about?
VJ: Some designers are overrated and sell simple t-shirts with holes in them for thousands of dollars. I just don’t get it. I’d rather focus on edgy and young emerging brands such as Stolen Girlfriends Club and CTRL Clothing that have clothes you can imagine the cool-girl-next-door wearing. Lonely Hearts and Twentysevennames also have the most adorable items – I want every single one of their pieces!

SO: How do you balance school with your blog, photography, and magazine?
VJ: When it comes to school work, I’m quite a procrastinator (ergo the blog, photography and magazine), but I also work best when things are last minute and I’m under stress. So I guess that’s how I balance it all.

SO: How would you describe the style scene in Vienna?
VJ: A couple months ago I would have said it’s conservative, but in the past few months I’ve gotten to know many people in the fashion circle and they’re all amazingly dressed. Most of they have a “hipster” style, but I love that whole attitude so that’s fine for my eyes I guess.

SO: What are the top items on your wishlist for fall?
VJ: Cropped sweaters, black wine colored lipstick and good grades!

SO: New York Fashion Week is coming up; whose collections are you most excited for?
VJ: Twinkle by Wenlan and Yigal Azrouel.

SO: If you could work with anyone on a feature for KNEON, who would it be, and what would the feature be?
VJ: It’d definitely be Camilla Akrans. She’s my absolute favourite photographer; her photos are just pure beauty. It’d be a dream to just meet her and talk about her beautiful photos.

SO: Who are your personal style icons?
VJ: Alexa Chung for sure. She not only has a knack for dressing perfectly all the time, but she’s also an interesting personality in the fashion industry and seems to have a great sense of humor. She’s also together with the lead singer of one of the greatest bands ever, so kudos to her.

SO: What’s the most treasured item in your closet?
VJ: My wine-red Dr. Martens.

SO: Do you have any advice for bloggers who are just starting up, or want to start their own magazine?
VJ: The most important thing is to not be afraid. It’s not really as intimidating as it seems and all it takes is stepping out of your safety zone. Focus on topics you like, get to know your strengths and find some creative people to work with; it’s also important to have a vision or idea and to follow it. Hope that helps!
