Discover our latest Blog Love, Hope This Lasts, and the sweet, mysterious beauty behind it – we know you'll fall for her just like we did.
Aubrey Daquinag of Hope This Lasts feels most at home behind the lens of one of her six cameras – but she's also a natural in front of the lens. This Sydney, Australia native has been blogging for years, but only been working on her fashion blogging project for the past year. She has the air of an old soul, and lives what seems to be a pretty romantic life. Learn a little more about her below, and see the rest of her blog here.
StyledOn: Tell us a little about yourself – how did you get into blogging?
Aubrey Daquinag: Blogging came at a young age. Back in high school, a couple of my good friends and I all had blogs that were pretty much personal online journals. It involved a whole lot of photographs from our social lives in our glorious teen years and is something you look back on and have a little laugh about. A few other blogs were created, loved but eventually left. I just don’t think I could ever make up my mind about which blogging platform to stick with.
Fast forward to late 2010 and Hope This Lasts was born. I needed a new project that was more challenging and allowed me to express myself and my creative vision - rather than just posting photos that I found and liked. So I continued with a photo diary of personal style, poetry, inspiration and most importantly, life – with its name stemmed from the thought of hoping this one will actually last. So far, so good!

SO: What is the most treasured item in your closet?
AD: It would have to be my tiny and delicate peace sign necklace by Tiffany & Co. from my boyfriend. I clean out my wardrobe for my occasional stall at the markets, so most apparel just come and go, but this is something I wear every single day. It’s a little sentimental.
SO: If you could spend a day shopping with anyone in the world, who would it be?
AD: U.S Marie Claire’s Style and Accessories Director, Taylor Tomasi Hill. Her insider info, knowledge and flair of mixing prints and textures would go a long way.
SO: What’s at the top of your wishlist right now?
AD: The Givenchy Nightingale in more than one colour!

SO: How do you avoid getting stuck in a style rut?
AD: Regular wardrobe clean outs allow room to endeavor new styles and an update on
a range of accessories is just as handy. You’ll be surprised at how many looks you can pull off with just a change of accessories!
SO: Are there any pieces that you think are worth splurging on?
AD: Bags, shoes and accessories in the timeless styles that you’ll get your wear out of... And maybe a special piece of clothing here and there.
SO: Can you tell us about your tattoo?
AD: It’s a beautiful mistake on my inner right forearm. I was the ripe young age of 18 and the Ataris were my favourite band. It’s the last two words from one of their optimistic quotes on life’s challenges: “How can you have a beautiful ending without making beautiful mistakes.”

SO: We love your blog and read it on a regular basis. Which blogs do you read the most?
AD: My regular visits and favorites are Garance Doré for her stunning photography, Fashiontoast for Rumi’s stylish outfits, Decade Diary for Bernadette’s amazing illustrations, What Katie Ate for Katie’s creative food styling and The Coveteur for their approach on the behind the scenes of creatives!
SO: Tell us something about yourself that we might not expect.
AD: I had an afro when I was young, still do, it’s just tamed now!
Are you loving Aubrey's style?
