StyledOn member and blogger extraordinaire Lucy Laucht sits down with us to dish on designers you need to know now, wardrobe regrets and her plans for the future.

She’s been shot by Tommy Ton and Vanessa Jackman, you’ve seen her in Grazia and Lucky Magazine, and chances are you’ve perused her personal style photos right here on StyledOn. As striking as she is stylish, the lovely Lucy Laucht now shares with us some of her favorite designers, her most treasured item of clothing, and a few tips for new bloggers.

StyledOn: How did your blog start? Tell us a little about how you got into fashion.
Lucy Laucht: My blog started as an online platform for my inspiration and observations, and then I started posting some outfit photos. At first I thought, well this is kind of self-absorbed! But I do like having a record of what I wear, and what inspired me. From an early age I wanted to work in fashion, and after studying fashion design at university and realizing I had no technical pattern cutting abilities to speak of, I pursued styling and public relations. I started out as a fashion assistant with a London stylist and went from there.

SO: We hear you're in New York for an internship this summer, can you tell us about it?
LL: My boyfriend and I visited New York last year and it was a total light bulb moment- I knew I had to be there. I'm starting an internship with Harrison & Shriftman in September and I’m working on an exciting project before that. The plan is to settle in New York for a while. I hope my blog will serve as an honest account of my experiences, including the highs and the lows – stay tuned!

SO: You lived in Australia for a while, are there any trends there that you wish would catch on in the states?
LL: I think the relative distance from Northern Hemisphere fashion encourages certain resourcefulness with trends. There’s less high street fashion and a stronger focus on local home grown talent. Australia, Sydney and Melbourne in particular, is a really exciting place to be at the moment, creativity wise.

SO: What's the most treasured item in your closet?
LL: A metallic silk and jacquard jacket from an old trunk of clothes donated to my university. It belonged to a 1930s English socialite. It’s falling apart at the seams, so sadly I don’t wear it that often.

SO: Who are your favorite designers?
LL: I would dress head to toe in Dries Van Noten if I had the money; I’m rather obsessed with the label actually. I got my hands on the latest look book and couldn’t put it down.

SO: Who are your style icons?
LL: At the moment it has to be Laurel Pantin, but I’m fickle and it changes daily. Catherine Baba makes such a statement with her style.

SO: Are there any emerging Australian designers that should be on our radar?
LL: ManiaMania is an amazing jewelry label by stylist Tamila Purvis and Melanie Kamsler. Their pieces are very one of a kind. Dion Lee is an amazing designer who is just bubbling under the surface at the moment.

SO: We check your blog on regular basis, what are the blogs you're obsessed with?
LL: I regularly check The Glamourai, and of course old favorites Garance Dore and The Sartorialist. I met Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil and Phil Oh of Street Peeper at Sydney Fashion Week and they were both so lovely, I'm always on their sites looking for inspiration.

SO: Do you have any regrettable moments in your fashion history / outfits you wish you'd never worn?
LL: Oh yes there are plenty of outfits I’m like, Really? What the hell was I thinking?! But I also like to believe style evolves, and if worn confidently, even the craziest of outfits can be carried off (sometimes). I'm not sure my boyfriend was too enamored with a recent gold trouser purchase. I told him, "Sometimes you just need to have the vision!"

SO: Do you have any tips for success for new bloggers?
LL: Buy a decent camera and try to be yourself. Both harder than they sound!
