The woman who spent 11 years as the president of MoMA has a Park Avenue pad that would make even the most jaded art collector swoon.
Walking through Agnes Gund's apartment must feel a bit akin to walking through a gallery. The walls, floor, and even the ceiling are bedecked with art pieces from some of the greatest artists in history. She has pieces from Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko, and Gerhard Richter, just to name a few. Check out her unparalleled collection and amazing apartment below (and start saving your pretty pennies for your own art collection now!).
Jasper John's Map (1963).
Left: Roy Lichtenstein's Masterpieces (1962). Right: Gerhard Richter's Horst With Dog (1965).
Brice Marden’s Epitaph Painting 2 (1996–97).
Cai Guo-Qiang’s Wolf and Lion (2005).

Left, foreground: Louise Bourgeois’s Pillar (1949–50); Left wall: Mark Rothko’s Two Greens With Red Stripe (1964); Left wall, below painting: Christo’s Nine Packed Bottles (1965); Background, hanging: Sol LeWitt’s 21 A, (1989).
Right: Robert Rauschenberg’s Rhyme (1956).
If you could buy any piece of art, what would you buy to kick off your own collection?

I love the Cai Guo-Qiang’s Wolf and Lion (2005) piece she has. If I could have any piece, I might take a Mary Cassat, but this is a really difficult question... I would also love one of the huge white pieces from Rachel Lee Hovnanian (especially one from her Narcissus project a few years back). My boyfriend is really dying for a piece from Shepard Fairey. -

I'd take a piece by Gerhard Richter myself. Really any of them... but if I could choose, this one, called "Betty": http://infinitesimally.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/gerhard-richter-betty.jpg
