Design duo Lanzavecchia + Wai have created a series of "Domestic Creatures" for your home that is both fun and functional.
Give your space some personality with these pieces by Italian/Singaporean design duo Lanzavecchia + Wai (pictured below – and how cute are they??), part of a series called 'Spaziale.' Made using wooden frames with bright, stretchy material wrapped over them, the pieces react to the objects (or people) inside. ‘Our’ chair, for example (pictured above), has a stretchy mouth that opens to whoever sits inside – and since it fits two, we can think of a few reasons to climb inside in tandem.
The bookshelves above are perfectly pretty and practical, and because they are so narrow, they also make excellent room dividers. With a pliable back, each shelf can hold books of all different depths and sizes.
The ‘Commode’ (below) appears at first to have a rigid top, but the stretchy fabric reacts to whatever is placed on it, such as keys, a cellphone, or spare change. It also has several ‘mouths’ to place your belongings in – and if you lose something inside you can untie the butterfly knot on the end and crawl in to retrieve it.
We love cheeky-yet-practical design like this, and would be happy to add any/all of these pieces to our homes.
What would you do with a purple chair sanctuary?
