Brooklynite Este Lewis is one crafty cookie. Instead of papering your kitchen with some French country scene with chickens, or flowers-and-ivy in your bathroom, try one of Soy Este’s unique, beautiful patterns of everyday objects like matches, candy and bandaids.
Lewis has must be a big picture thinker: each of her prints take one small object, and places it en masse to create and entirely different picture. An entire wall of the red-tipped matches (above) looks more like a horizontal pinstripe than thousands of tiny sticks, and the rolling paper print (third from bottom) takes on the appearance of a flaky paper birch tree. Her digitally printed wallpapers are all made to order and prepped to install, so the hardest part is deciding which print to use. Lewis also had the bright idea of making an aromatic window curtain using teabags, which you can learn how to DIY here.
