StyledOn's Six Favorite Dance Flicks

Everyone loves a good dance movie. Usually involving a teenager or a group of teenagers from "the wrong side of the tracks," these flicks are inspiring, uplifting and always a good time. And so, in honor of International Dance Day on Thursday, we've picked out six of these lovable favorites and (disregarding their merits as "art") have added them to our DVD queues for a movie marathon.

Step Up 2 The Streets (above)

If you like America's Best Dance Crew, you'll love Step Up 2. The dancing is out-of-this-world insanely good – I promise you'll be squirming in your seat to get up and move. (Also, stay tuned for Step Up 3D, coming out later this year!)

Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo

This band of teens will stop at nothing to keep their beloved rec center from being bulldozed – but as we all know, all they need is the power of dance. Breakdance, that is! This movie also wins the award for highest concentration of accessories per person in a film, ever.
Footloose

A town with no dancing?! Not for long, thanks to Kevin Bacon's inspiring punch dancing routines. 'Nuff said. Everybody cut Footloose!
Shall We Dance

Skip the Richard Gere/J. Lo #fail from 2004 – Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers get it right in this 1937 classic that solidified the pair as the best hoofers in Hollywood.
Take the Lead

This one was voted on unanimously in the office as a surprise pick. Antonio Banderas teaches ballroom dance to an unlikely goup of teens who go on to compete with pride. Also, that obnoxious girl Yaya from America's Next Top Model is pretty likeable in this, believe it or not.

What are your favorite dance movies?
