Good Eats: Mother's Bar in Brooklyn
Feature Article in Drinking | Dining by Emily Kropp / March 8, 2010
It certainly doesn't look like much, but Mother's in Brooklyn is a wonderful haven of good beer and good eats (and perhaps Graham Avenue's best kept secret). With a small but satisfactory food menu (veggie, bison, and beef burgers with crispy traditional or sweet potato fries), and a range of delicious beers (Blue Point being a favorite), this spot is inexpensive and attitude free.
On my last visit, a couple sitting next to me struck up a conversation and asked about the neighborhood. They were considering moving close by and asked how we liked the neighborhood. I gushed a bit, and then we both went back to our meals. By the end of the night, the couple got up to leave and I asked if they had reached a decision about moving. "It looks like we're going to be neigbors," they said. "See you back here, perhaps!" I can't help but think that Mother's played a part in their decision; they left two clean plates and four empty glasses in their wake as they happily jaunted off.
Now that the sun is finally showing its face, Mother's is even more appealing; with outdoor seating in the back, it's the ideal locale to enjoy a little fresh air and a drink after work.
Will we see you there?
