This tavern-style bar and restaurant is a real gem.

Good Eats At Sweetwater

It is easy to miss Sweetwater among the plethora of bars on North 6th and Berry Street in Brooklyn. The facade doesn't particularly standout, and unlike many spots on the block there isn't usually a throng pouring out of the entrance, but that is part of what makes it such a diamond in the rough. Well, that and the food.

Last night I went for the second time and was reminded of why I love it so much: the simple but elegant decor, lovely lighting, and incredible menu (not to mention Adrian Grenier sitting in the booth next to us). Sweetwater brings in nice mix of patrons and in warmer months has a beautiful patio strung with twinkling lights. Highlights of the menu include the steamed mussels, potato gnocchi, and a lamb burger served on an english muffin. The chef mixes French and Spanish flavors in to his American bistro flare and with excellent results. Prices are reasonable and portions are filling; the worst part of the night will be choosing from the many delicious dishes and still saving room for dessert.

Have you been to Sweetwater? What was your favorite dish?
