Metropolitan Home's latest coffee table book, Glamour: Making it Modern (Filipacchi Publishing) by Michael Lassell is a must-have for your collection, even if you're on a recessionista's budget or your idea of interior design is draping scarves over lamps.
With 240 stunning pages covering 125 homes, the book does an amazing job of showing how glamour, luxury and comfort can be acheived with small details and easy changes. The first section of the book is titled "Concepts," and illustrates the ways that elements like scale and palette can create a glamourous feel in any room, followed by "Objects" showcasing fireplaces, chandeliers, mirrors, and more used in gorgeous and innovative ways. The third section, "Rooms," tours houses designed by some of the best contemporary interior designers.

My favorite part of the book is the awesome quotes that accompany each section, such as "What could be more glamorous than stepping down a sweeping and sensuous staircase?" from Raji Radhakrishnan, or "A window treatment doesn't have to be complicated or tortured to be glamorous" from Larry R. Laslo. These guys take their extremely fun jobs very seriously, but the results are impeccable. I've been inspired to hang a wall of mirrors in my livingroom and cool down the palette in my bathroom (those garish brown/yellow tiles are KILLING my morning routine), and I've been trolling Craig's List for some great, inexpensive finds like this beautiful Ikea kitchen cart (for half price!). Pick up a copy of this beautiful book and get inspired!
