I dare you not to bop your head to Animal Feelings. From the very first track, "No Fucking Around," you know you're in for a good time. Rafter Roberts is serious about making fun music, and it will seriously get stuck in your head. Rafter is clearly one of those chosen few meant to work in music – he started his own recording studio, and has recorded/mastered/engineered music for a very impressive list of musicians, including the Fiery Furnaces, Sufjan Stevens and Rogue Wave among many others.
His latest album includes party anthems, odes to produce (“I know that you’d love me, if you would share your fruit with me”), wonderful pop love songs. On "Timeless Form, Formless Time" Rafter's easy-on-the-ears voice croons "I don't need anyone else in my arms but you tonight, 'cause you're my girl, and I love my girl." When Rafter uses a vocoder, it sounds much more like Zapp and Roger than contemporary acts like T-Pain or Snoop Dogg, and when he curses (on “Paper” for example), you’ll find yourself dropping F-bombs right along with him.
Pick up a copy of Animal Feelings and put it on when you want to get the party started. You won’t regret it.
