Design Moment at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair

This week, Middle Eastern designers bring their creations to a global audience through the Abu Dhabi Art Fair.
From November 19th-22nd, Design Moment offers artists and designers in the Middle East a platform to showcase their works to a global audience gathered for the Abu Dhabi Art Fair. The even is an effort on the part of TDIC (Tourism Development & Investment Company) to shine a spotlight on the creative potential of the region, and will include an art talk featuring Jeff Koons and Yoko Ono.
Among the designers participating in the event are Houda Baroudi and Maria Hibri, the Lebanese team behind furniture company Bokja Design who have created a series of colorful couches (pictured above) and chairs constructed using recycled textures from around the world.
Reem al Ghaith is a young artist from Dubai who works in multiple mediums and will be showcasing her work from a series based on designs found on the doors of homes in Dubai. Above are photos from the Beyoutna " lobby piece."
Palestinian Nedda El-Asmar is a world-renowned Belgium-based silversmith who has worked the for the likes of Hermès and Villeroy and Boch and will be showing past work and a presentation of her design process. Her XL suite for the d-hotel in Kortrijk, Belgium, is shown above.
The Bibliothèque Zelli bookcase, shown above, was designed by another artist showcasing at Design Moment, Younes Duret. The Moroccan designer also pioneered the Younes Duret Design Agency, and champion the works of Middle Eastern artist.
If you can't make it to Abu Dhabi on a moment's notice, we wont hold it against you. But stay tuned to these up-and-coming artists, they are bringing Middle Eastern design into the spotlight.
