Bic Boy: Juan Francisco Casas

Many artists create challenges for themselves, whether it's the time they spend on a work, the iterations that follow, or the medium that they create with. Juan Francicsco Casas challenges himself with the latter, creating photo-real drawings using only Bic Ballpoint pens (really!). A native of Andalusia, his work has been compared to perennial favorite Gerhard Richter, who also works in photo-real images. Casas uses personal snapshots of himself and his friends as the basis for his drawings, and is represented by the Galeria Fernando Pradilla. Check out some of our favorite pieces below.
